By her own admission, photographer Martina Novotna had been “lying on a rocky beach for hours,” attempting to be “as motionless as possible.” She went there to take pictures of gray seals in their native environment, and she did just that.

This seal pup, seen in this photo, came ashore to rest and slept for hours on his preferred rock until the tide moved it. The dog yawned when this photo was shot, but it appears that it was more of a charming giggle than a true sign of exhaustion.
