4. Construct a Secret Fort with Beanstalks

Materials: soil, pole bean seeds, climbing flower seeds, thread or string, bamboo or wooden poles
Making Cost: $50*
Consider building an all-natural fort out of beanstalks for your children to play in if you’re feeling particularly adventurous. It took some time to build, but it seems to have been worthwhile because you can harvest free beans from your garden in addition to providing some shade for the kids.
Using bean stalks, create a secret fort at @anamarapucchere or Pinterest.
You’ll need six to ten foot bamboo or wooden poles, twine or string, soil (if needed), pole bean seeds like Kentucky Wonder, and climbing flower seeds if you want a pop of color. Cover them with dirt, give them plenty of water, firmly pat down the earth, and watch them grow.
