You can prolong their shelf life for several weeks or even months, depending on the type you have. After cutting peony stems, keep them chilled until they are completely dry. Peonies should be cut when they are budding but not yet blooming, which indicates that the buds are starting to loosen but not too much. Put them in a big Ziploc bag for storage. The secret is to keep them cool and dry; otherwise, they could mold.
