6.St. Peter’s Basilica

Built in 1506, St. Peter’s Basilica is free to enter yet costs billions to build. The building took about a century, with completion occurring in 1626. Donato Bramante, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Michelangelo, and other well-known painters contributed to the construction of this amazing structure in Vatican City.

Saint Peter, John Paul II, and other notable figures were interred in the Renaissance-styled St. Peter’s Basilica. The Basilica, which is 448 feet high, is a true monument to the amazing things that humans are capable of creating.
