One of the few nations in the world that is not continuously plagued by severe earthquakes and typhoons is Japan. However, the Japanese are a cunning people, and they have taken precautions to protect their capital from these natural disasters.
Tokyo’s Approach to Typhoon Management
Tokyo has enormous subterranean flood tunnels that provide safe areas for floodwater to enter during a typhoon, keeping the destructive force away from the magnificent city. But unless you see the tiny, ant-like humans wandering around, you cannot begin to comprehend the enormity of these tunnels. We don’t want to think about how much water would have to flow into these tunnels to fill them to the brim!
