1. The “Fixed” Couch Seat
Estimated Cost: $300* for new; $30* for do-it-yourself
A malfunctioning coffee maker or a vengeful manager are just two examples of the many things that may go wrong at work. While offices and shop floors are frequently kept immaculate, the staff room is a very different story. Consider this couch, which has seen better days.

Instead of taking a financial hit on a new one from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, one employee of the month chose to save the day by repairing the damaged seat by inserting a dining chair into the sofa. Subtract the chair’s price, and you’ve saved a couple hundred dollars.
Not that this couch is very attractive or comfortable, but let’s get real: workers don’t spend a lot of time in the break room these days. It would be wiser to save those valuable bucks for the next workplace party rather than squandering them on new chairs, don’t you think?
