Former running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens was seen on tape quarreling with his fiancée, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City elevator in 2014. Rice said they were just disagreeing and denied any wrongdoing. The video evidence, however, painted a different picture.

The cameras captured the Ravens scrambling back, using force to knock Palmer out, and then stealthily removing her from the elevator at the following stop. Although Palmer declined to file charges despite the incident’s widespread outcry, Rice merely received a two-game suspension. Because of the incident, Rice loses his reputation and approximately $500k.
