5. Volumized Pony

Rake your hair with your fingers to add some volume; tie it with a hair elastic from the crown of your head. Then softly tousle the hair on top to add volume. For more bouffant, backcomb the top of the ponytail. Any ensemble will benefit from this elegant yet simple approach in adding some drama. Start with day-old hair or apply a texturizing spray on recently washed hair to get grip and maximum volume. Turn your head upside down and sweep your hair towards the head crown to gather it into a high ponytail. Tightly secure it with a hair elastic in your colour. A bungee hair tie would be a great extra grip tool. Using a fine-toothed comb, lightly tease the hair at the crown of your head after the ponytail is set. Work your way down from the roots, backcombing in brief, rapid strokes starting about an inch away. Take great care not to over-tease; knots and damage can result. For a professional appearance, smooth the top layer of hair across the teased portion. Starting from the ends and working your way up, softly backcomb little areas to give the ponytail itself more volume. To keep everything in place without stiffness, finish the look with a small mist of flexible-hold hairspray. To hide the hair elastic for a more formal event, think about slinking a little bit of hair around the ponytail base.
