4. Researchers Studying Paleontology Have Found A New, Horrifying Sea Monster

The location is in Eastern Wyoming, USA.
Discovered in 2022
Estimated Value: N/A
Fortunately, the new marine monster identified by the College of Charleston is not living as of yet. This 23-foot-long extinct marine lizard, named Serpentisuchops, existed thirty million years ago. Because of its elongated neck and crocodile-like jaws—features that scientists didn’t think matched together—Serpentisuchops is unique.

A New, Horrifying Sea Monster Has Been Found by Paleontologists
The CoC claims that the neck of the skeleton is “beautifully preserved,” with all thirty-two vertebrae discernible (the human neck consists of seven vertebrae). The reason the carcass of a serpentisuchops is so well preserved is that fine-grain sediments have buried it beneath the seafloor and kept it there until this point, untouched.
