Christ the Redeemer sculptures made by French sculptor Paul Landowski were delivered to Brazil. Here, the statue we know and love today is the product of the collaborative efforts of French engineer Albert Caquot and Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa to reinforce these components using concrete.

The monument is approximately 98 feet tall, but because it is perched atop a hill, it appears even bigger. On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, we can see it receiving some maintenance here. The human really enjoys having small objects close to its head.
