9. Better Add the Ants to Your Calorie Count

Some people routinely consume ants and believe that the small insects make an excellent snack. Still, most of the world sees them as little irritable bugs. These tiny and very bothersome ants somehow found their way into this person’s breakfast. The worst aspect is that some of the tainted cereal had already been eaten and they didn’t know it until quite almost too late. It appeared odd that they wouldn’t observe the tiny flecks not meant to be present unless this was their first time eating cornflakes.
Imagine beginning your day with a bowl of what you consider to be your normal, crispy cornflakes. Half-awake, you are idly spooning cereal into your mouth on your phone when you suddenly see something. off off. Not some fresh fiber-rich addition to your cereal, the “extra crunch” you have been savoring is an army of microscopic ants transforming your morning into an unintentional protein boost. The morning ritual of our poor diner became bizarre when they discovered they had been unintentionally partaking in an improvised bushtucker trial. As they examine their bowl more closely and notice the little black specks gliding amid the golden flakes, the horror of the circumstances gradually sets in. Their brain races with questions: How long have they been consuming cereal flavored with ants? How did a whole colony choose to call home their cereal box? Most importantly, does this break their diet? They wonder if this is nature’s way of alerting them to pay more attention to their food as they struggle with the reality that they have just had a very literal taste of the insect-based diet environmentalists advocate. One thing is certain: from now on, they will be extremely, very careful about inspecting their cereal and might even be making some sealed container investments. Nobody wants to start their day feeling as though they have fallen onto the set of some odd food challenge performance.
