10. We Are Happy About the Extinct Ammonites

In our high school biology class, we all studied the phylum Mollusca and then promptly forgot about it. However, we never once attempted to approximate the actual size of some species within this phylum. Ammonites were a type of cephalopod that inhabited shells and became extinct about a millennium ago. However, observing their enormity can serve as a sobering reminder of reality and inspire gratitude for not having lived during their time.

Seeing fossils like this helps us imagine how different and vast our globe was a long time ago. We are grateful that the Earth wiped off these species before humanity did!
