10. Cleaning Reusable Water Bottles
Great for the environment, reusable water bottles can be difficult to completely clean—especially if they have stains or smells. Deep cleaning these bottles can be accomplished with great efficiency using dishwasher tablets. Using this approach, drop a dishwasher tablet into a hot water filled water bottle. For more tough stains or smells, let it sit for about one hour, or overnight. The tablet will break down releasing its cleaning agents all around the bottle. After soaking, gently scrub the inside with a bottle brush, focussing especially on the bottom and around the mouth of the bottle where residue usually builds up. Several times rinse completely with fresh water to guarantee all cleaning substances are eliminated. This approach is especially helpful for plastic or stainless steel bottles with established coffee or tea stains or for bottles that have acquired bad smells.
