Mursi
The Mursi tribe, located in southern Ethiopia, is well-known for its unusual jewelry, which includes clay discs that women wear on their lower lips. The coming-of-age celebration for Mursis includes this ritual. The girls typically cut their lower lip and knock out two of their lower front teeth in order to install the clay plate, which they construct themselves.
