15. Lisbon’s Christ the King

One of Lisbon, Portugal’s most notable attractions, is Christ the King, a massive monument to Jesus Christ. The shrine and monument are seen in this picture taken from the top of Jesus’ head, demonstrating the statue’s over four hundred-foot height.

The head cardinal of Lisbon saw the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, which is credited with inspiring Cristo Rei. When he saw it, he contacted Portuguese artist Antonio Lino to realise the idea.
