At an Argentinean wildlife refuge, a capybara called Jazz has shown an amazing reaction to musical instruments. Jazz shows unusual behaviours that imply real respect of many musical genres when guests or employees perform live music, especially with string instruments. He exhibits obvious preferences, approaching the music source during classical compositions and seeming to be more animated at lively rhythms. This surprising love of music has resulted in the regular “Concerts for Capybaras” events, in which local musicians perform amid an adoring crowd supplied by Jazz and his capybara buddies. The activities have been so well-liked that they now provide educational possibilities as well as entertainment value, teaching guests about capybara behaviour and environmental enrichment sensitivity.
