7. Dolly Would Laugh
Est. Cost: $20*
What Happened: A Dolly Parton cake that didn’t turn out
Knowing Dolly Parton and her sense of humor, she’d probably laugh at this photo. This cake featured the indomitable Ms. Parton sitting atop a gold-and-rhinestone pink cake, cowboy hat next to her.

Dolly Would Laugh
The result was something a little less well-done. You can’t even tell it’s Dolly at all. The cake appears, judging from the number, to be for a two-year-old’s birthday party, so maybe it was the toddler who helped make it. If so, not bad.
8. The Picture Vs. The Reality
Est. Cost: $50*
What Happened: An overly-ambitious attempt to copy a dragon cake
The cake at the top is incredible, and you can tell that someone really talented made it. The dragon looks very detailed, as does the story book atop which it sits. We’d estimate the cake up top cost at least $100 or $200.

The Picture Vs. The Reality
The cake at the bottom, well…this copycat attempt did not go quite so well, but, hopefully, the person who made it had fun doing so. It was a valiant attempt, even if it looks like a vaguely-animal-shaped lump of ground, raw beef.
