6. The Palm Court

Visible from space, Palm Jumeirah is an engineering wonder. With the shape of a palm tree, this artificial archipelago adds more than 50 miles of new shoreline. The man-made islands needed more than 70 million cubic metres of rock and sand to build. Over its 17 fronds, the Palm Jumeirah is home to opulent beachside resorts, residences, hotels, villas, and apartments.

The massive man-made island took ten years and $12 billion to build. The price per square foot of a home on Palm Jumeirah ranges from hundreds to millions. Residents can enjoy retail centres, yacht marinas, aquariums, and water parks. Though it was planned artificially, Palm Jumeirah is now a live example of Dubai’s capacity to construct new land from the ground up.
