9. Repair and Touch-Up Strategies

Knowing how to correctly handle these problems can help your manicure last much longer even if even the most well-applied one may require repairs or touch-ups during wear time. Starting with minor chips, first clean the impacted area with nail polish remover and let it dry entirely. Instead of trying to cover the chip all at once, apply a tiny bit of matching polish to the chip with a small detail brush, establishing thin layers. Apply a little top coat to mix the repair with the current manicure when the colour is level with the surrounding polish. Apply a thin line of colour to the worn edge gently for tip wear; top coat will seal it. Before adding colour and top coat, lightly buff the raised region, wipe with polish remover, and apply a small bit of base coat if you see lifting at the corners. Keep a touch-up kit with top coat, micro bottle of your current colour, and a tiny brush for quick fixes.
