9. Plasma Dynamic Propulsion
Strong underwater jets for propulsion are produced by this developing technology from ionized gas (plasma). Effective functioning in the marine environment is made possible by advanced plasma generators and magnetic confinement devices. Comparatively to traditional propellers, the technique provides the possibility for fast operation with little sound signature. With many countries running extensive testing campaigns to assess its military capability, recent developments in plasma containment and power control have brought this technology closer to useful application.
