Finished in 1991, the statue’s chambers are replete with images of Buddha. To view this breathtaking site, visitors must pay a nominal admission price of 500 yen ($3.39). A $1.5 million restoration project to fix surface cracks and other minor but significant problems will soon take place in Sendai.
