This amazing work is the ideal mix of artistic ability with youthful curiosity. The physically remarkable T-Rex centrepiece shows that the sculptor obviously has both paleontological understanding and great snow-crafting ability. From the finely carved scales along the dinosaur’s back to the frightening posture that catches the predator mid-roar, the level of detail is just amazing. To get the delicate textures and exact angles, the artist used a variety of tools—including culinary utensils and gardening items. The tableau gains a whimsical narrative element from the surrounding environment, which features smaller snowmen seeming to be fleeing the great snow-rex. Using spray bottles loaded with water to reinforce the structure and food colouring to accentuate particular elements, the artist apparently spent more than twelve hours honing this prehistoric playground. The T-Rex’s balanced posture is the most amazing technological feat; it calls for thorough study of weight distribution and support systems buried under snow.
