The newest craze on Pinterest is lace eggs, especially in the run-up to Easter. But the truth is, you’ll break hundreds of them before you even obtain a passably decent, loosely lace-patterned design. They are absurdly hard to produce.

It appears that a high-speed drill is required to manufacture these eggs. To make them, take a clean, blown shell and draw a lace pattern on it (this means the shell doesn’t actually contain an egg). Then, a Pinterest user claims, you hand-carve the design with a high-speed drill. The price of these drills might reach $1,000. Purchasing a $5 kit and painting a dozen eggs for $1.54 is unquestionably less expensive than doing it yourself.
