6. The Russky Bridge

For the purpose of connecting Rusky Island with the Muravyov-Amursky Peninsula during the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, the Russky Bridge was constructed. When the bridge in Eastern Russia was finished, its center span was 3390 yards and a little over 3,622 feet long, making it the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world. And among the priciest building undertakings in recorded history.

The bridge, which cost $1.1 billion to build, can handle about 50,000 vehicles per day. In the ten years since the conference, it has hardly been utilized for anything other than ferrying visitors to and from the island.
