76. Heavy Metal Donut
Ordered From: Walmart Bakery
Average Order Price: $3.98/12*
One donut-lover found out the hard way that their donuts from the Walmart Bakery weren’t as fresh as they thought. After biting into the donut, he realized that there was something small embedded in the dough. He looked closer and found that it was a tiny metal ring.

When you look online, these stories of metal pieces and sharp objects in Walmart’s baked goods have happened more than once. In 2013, a six-year-old boy was even hospitalized after he ate a donut with pieces of black metal in it (like this one). His mom said she realized what happened after he said the donut tasted “crunchy” and his tooth was chipped.
77. Cheeseburger Pizza
Ordered From: Pizza Hut
Average Order Price: $11.99*
If you’re in the mood to eat 3,000 calories in one go, look no further than Pizza Hut’s cheeseburger crust pizza. Sadly, Americans will not be able to indulge in this snack, as it’s only available in the U.K. and the Middle East. Even there, it’s seasonal as well.

Cheeseburger Pizza @insider / Pinterest
It almost looks like Pizza Hut tried to take the concept of a cheeseburger pizza (which is also an acquired taste) and turn it into, well, crust. Each segment of crust contains a mini, cheese-topped cheeseburger. Out of all of Pizza Hut’s wacky ideas, this one might take the cake for the weirdest crust offering.
78. Chicken Tender or Half a Chicken Patty?
Ordered From: McDonald’s
Average Order Price: $7.36*
In the UK, there’s such a thing as “Chicken Selects” on the menu. You can get three large chicken tenders for a little over $7, all of which are coated in crispy breading. It’s pretty good, according to UK McDonald’s customers, but, apparently, one store ran out of chicken tenders and had to…improvise.

Chicken Tender or Half a Chicken Patty? @mylakiley / Pinterest
A McDonald’s customer opened his package of Chicken Selects and found that one of the three tenders wasn’t a tender at all—it was a chicken patty cut in half. It’s clear that the restaurant ran out, and the workers had to make a last-minute—if poor—choice.
79. Eggs on a Pizza?
Ordered From: Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint
Average Order Price: $18.49*
Uncle Maddio’s Pizza bills itself as a “fresh way” to experience everyone’s favorite classic: pizza. The restaurant chain never shies away from a unique flavor, with pizzas like steak and blue, Jamaican jerk, mushroom truffle, and more. This creation doesn’t seem like it came off the menu at all.

Eggs on a Pizza? @buzzfeed / Pinterest
One customer ordered from Uncle Maddio’s and got pizza with hardboiled egg and parsley as the toppings—there barely seems to be any cheese. It’s unclear whether this was a misunderstood order, but it seems likely, as that type of pizza doesn’t appear to be something the average customer would order.
80. Extra Ketchup
Ordered From: McDonald’s
Average Order Price: $1.39*
McDoubles are a cheap, fast meal for anyone on the go. Pretty much everyone in America has had a McDouble at one point or another, and we all know how it’s supposed to look: two patties, lettuce, cheese, tomato, bun, ketchup and mustard, etc. One mustard-hating customer ordered his McDouble with “ketchup only.”

Extra Ketchup @cputmanputman / Pinterest
What he got served was pure sass. The McDonald’s workers, clearly annoyed that someone was making a special request, gave him a bun with “ONLY ketchup” in it. As the customer said, “I’m p*ssed. This ain’t what I meant.” Let’s hope he at least got a refund.
81. Cheese “On The Side”
Ordered From: McDonald’s
Average Order Price: $1.39*
Another failed McDonald’s attempt is this creation. Though, to be fair, if the customer asked for the cheese on the side, this makes total sense. One McDonald’s customer in the UK placed their order and got cheese completely off the patty—instead, it melted into the cardboard.

It looks like they dined in, so hopefully they were able to get a new patty. You can tell it’s the UK and not America because of the “3 Chicken Selects” on the side. Alas, Americans get only chicken nugget meals instead—which, as some might argue, are far superior to Chicken Selects.
82. Hula Burger
Ordered From: McDonald’s
Average Order Price: $0.21* ($1.81* in today’s money)
This is definitely a blast from the past. It’s unclear whether someone copied the infamous Hula Burger at home or somehow conned a McDonald’s into making one again, but no, your eyes are not deceiving you. The infamous 1960s treat has apparently made a return for one “lucky” customer.

Hula Burger @paulineantrobus / Pinteres.com
The Hula Burger was introduced to McDonald’s in the sixties by a man named Ray Kroc. Kroc’s invention was a pineapple slice instead of a burger. The pineapple would be topped with cheese and placed between two buns. It was supposed to be a substitute for Catholics who couldn’t eat meat on Fridays. The Hula Burger, as you can imagine, didn’t have a very long run.
83. Too Much of a Good Thing
Ordered From: Starbucks
Average Order Price: $15-$20*
If you’ve ever worked in food service, then you know that there is no human limit on all the weird stuff customers will order or ask you to add on or subtract from the order (a “salad with no lettuce” is the classic example). However, even this pushes it. One customer got too much of a good thing with her drink at Starbucks.

Too Much of a Good Thing @buzzfeed / Pinterest
The Green Tea Frappe featured skinny mocha, raspberry, cinnamon dolce, and vanilla sauce. There was also an insane amount of matcha powder (ground green tea, basically), shots of espresso, soy milk, and mocha drizzle. Oh, and can’t forget about the light ice.
84. Egg And Cheese Sandwich
Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $2-$3*
An egg-and-cheese sandwich is a delicious way to start the morning. The breakfast tradition has been around since the 1300s when the first bagels started appearing on the ledgers of royal families in Poland. Can’t go wrong with an egg-and-cheese, or can you?

One customer found out that there is definitely a way to do the egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwich incorrectly. When he unwrapped his sandwich, he found that between the two slices of admittedly-delicious-looking bread, there was a hardboiled egg and very little cheese to be found. Talk about a not so great way to start a morning.
85. Leaf-y Burrito
Ordered From: Chipotle
Average Order Price: $6.50-$7.50*
This photograph sparked an Internet firestorm about how some people have no taste. One customer ordered a burrito from Chipotle and found a “leaf” in it. He tweeted “Thank you @ChipotleTweets for the leaf in my burrito. Yum,” at the company, and he was promptly given a social media smackdown.

As many Twitter users pointed out, that is a bay leaf. Thrillist and Vice even wrote articles on how ridiculous it was, taking time to explain exactly what bay leaves are. For those who don’t know, they’re leaves from a laurel tree used as an herb in cooking, i.e. the leaf is supposed to be there.
86. Hotdog Crust Pizza
Ordered From: Pizza Hut
Average Order Price: $11.99*
There’s very little limit to what Pizza Hut will and won’t put on or in its crust, and Hotdog Pizza is just another example of that. The Hotdog Pizza has been around since 2015, when it was introduced to honor the anniversary of Stuffed Crust (which has cheese in it). Hotdog Pizza is pizza surrounded by twenty-eight hotdogs.

The hotdogs are stuffed in the crust, making this more of a Pigs-in-a-Blanket Pizza than anything. Judging from a Washington Post taste-test, the reactions to Hotdog Pizza were pretty negative. As one WaPo taste-tester put it, “I love pizza [and] hot dogs. I didn’t love this thing.”
87. Cockroach Hashbrowns
Ordered From: McDonald’s
Average Order Price: $1*
McDonald’s hash browns might only be $1, but asking for a little quality control shouldn’t be too much. Though they are, admittedly, delicious, this might put you off McDonald’s famous crispy hash browns for the rest of your life. One customer made the worst possible discovery in their food, aside from poison.

Cockroach Hashbrowns ©imgur.com
They found a huge winged cockroach smashed into their hash brown. And the worst part is, they found it after taking several bites. They must have not taken the hash brown all the way out of the packaging before taking a bite. We bet they’ll think twice about that next time—or perhaps skip fast food altogether.
88. Pineapple & Coconut Loaf
Ordered From: McDonald’s Australia
Average Order Price: $1-$3*
This one isn’t so much “misunderstood” as it is a little unusual. But, when you think about it, this could actually taste pretty amazing, if you’re a fan of tropical-inspired desserts (who isn’t?). In Australia, there is a sweet bread loaf that is flavored with pineapple and coconut. It’s topped with shredded coconut and, of course, butter.

Pineapple & Coconut Loaf @ella77711 / Pinterest
As McDonald’s says, this dessert will “put a shine on your day” thanks to the “sweet taste of tropics.” The more we think about it, the better this dessert looks like it tastes. Hopefully, Americans will get it as a special add-on for summer (fingers crossed!).
89. Knife Sandwich
Ordered From: Subway
Average Order Price: $7.75*
This sandwich death threat was clearly an accident, and, judging from the poster, he took it in pretty good humor. One customer walked into Subway and ordered a sandwich. The sandwich artist accidentally left the knife used to slice the bread inside the sandwich. Though the knife wasn’t sharp, it could have been potentially dangerous (or, at the very least, inconvenient).

The unfortunate sandwich recipient joked on Reddit that a “sandwich artist” tried to “kill” him. He waited until five years after the order to get a Reddit account, which he described as a “venue” where he could “finally share” his story of survival.
90. Doritos Crust Pizza
Ordered From: Pizza Hut Australia
Average Order Price: $17.99*
Is there no limit to Pizza Hut’s madness? The pizza chain introduced yet another addition to this list of all foods misunderstood and unusual: Doritos Crunchy Crust Pizza. The crust actually doesn’t sound too bad. It’s cheese-stuffed crust with cheddar cheese and Nacho Cheese Doritos layered on top.

Doritos Crust Pizza @onkelzwiewir / Pinterest
The Crunchy Crust is actually crunchy, too. It’s not just crumbs—from the pictures, the Doritos looked pretty intact. People Magazine called it the “latest bizarre international food.” The Doritos Crunchy Crust is only available in Australia, as it appears the Australian wing of the chain doesn’t want to be outshone by its foreign counterparts’ crazy crust creations.
