Newfoundland

In addition to their training needs, Newfoundlands are not the ideal choice for those who value a pristine, tidy home. These dogs are known for their slobbering, especially after drinking water, and they shed heavily twice a year during seasonal coat changes. Their thick, water-resistant double coat requires regular grooming to manage shedding and prevent mats, which can be time-consuming. Despite these challenges, their affectionate nature, loyalty, and gentle demeanor make them wonderful family dogs, especially for households with space and time to dedicate to their care.
