The Great Pyrenees

The Great Pyrenees can be a loyal family pet and an effective watchdog. However, this breed is known for being strong-willed and stubborn, so consistent and determined training is essential. While not considered an easy dog to manage, with proper socialization and training, it can become a great companion for the entire family.

These dogs are gentle with children and calm indoors. Outdoors, they require secure fencing and are not suited for off-leash walks. Drooling is a common trait. Originally bred as flock-guarding dogs in the Pyrenees mountains of France and Spain, the Great Pyrenees is naturally watchful, protective, and attentive to its family, making it a brave and reliable guard dog.
