Afghan Hound

The Afghan Hound’s aristocratic appearance is matched by its dignified personality. This breed naturally commands attention without seeking it. Beneath its long, glossy coat lies a skilled and resilient hunter. An ancient breed, the Afghan Hound traces its origins back to the Egyptians and the Middle Eastern mountains, where it was trained to chase gazelles and smaller prey like hares.

With a natural instinct and agility for navigating rugged terrain, the Afghan Hound requires regular outdoor exercise. Owning one means committing to daily physical activity and consistent coat maintenance. When given proper care and attention, this breed becomes a calm and affectionate companion that enjoys curling up in bed with its owner. While it can be trained to get along with children, it is not a playful dog by nature. The Afghan Hound does not thrive when left alone or ignored, making it unsuitable for being confined to the backyard.
