Owning one means committing to daily physical activity and consistent coat maintenance. When given proper care and attention, this breed becomes a calm and affectionate companion that enjoys curling up in bed with its owner. While it can be trained to get along with children, it is not a playful dog by nature. The Afghan Hound does not thrive when left alone or ignored, making it unsuitable for being confined to the backyard.
