German Shepherd

Originally developed in Germany in 1899 for herding livestock, particularly sheep, the German Shepherd quickly gained popularity. Soldiers returning from WWII brought them home, and the famous Rin Tin Tin became the first canine movie star. While bred as a herding dog, the German Shepherd’s versatility has made it an exceptional working dog. It excels as a rescue dog, guide dog, police dog, and in canine sports. However, potential owners should remember that German Shepherds require significant exercise to stay healthy and happy.
