Tosa

Owning a Tosa requires a yard with a fence at least 6 feet high, as electronic fences are ineffective against this dog. The Tosa has an athletic, warrior-like appearance and a history rooted in 14th-century Japanese dog fighting. Named after the Tosa Province on Shikoku Island, this breed is vigilant, dignified, calm, and courageous. Tosas make excellent guard dogs and loyal companions. They respond well to training that uses positive reinforcement, as they are eager to please.
