Dachshund

The word “Dachshund” is German for “badger dog.” This short-legged, long-bodied breed was originally developed to hunt badgers, chasing them into burrows and outmatching their tenacity. Dachshunds are known for being fierce and brave. A 2008 study published in an academic animal science journal identified the Dachshund as the most aggressive dog breed. Fortunately, they are only a few inches tall. The breed comes in three varieties.

Due to its badger-hunting background, the Dachshund is also an avid digger. Often called the “wiener dog” because of its distinctive appearance, it is loved by children for its funny physique. However, this breed is not ideal for families with small children. As one of the more aggressive breeds, Dachshunds can be hostile toward strangers and young kids.
