Because it is the only bridge in the world that allows people to remain on it while it is swinging open, this one is special. The bridge is 1,000 tons in weight and has a total span of 187 feet. On June 28, 2013, the Scale Lane Footbridge was publicly opened to the public by the Lord Mayor of Kingston.
