Oliver Grossetete, a French artist, created Pont de Singe, a rope bridge floating over a lake in Tatton Park, northwest England, using three enormous helium balloons. “Monkey Bridge,” or Ponte de Singe, was constructed as a component of the Tatton Park Biennial Contest. That year, “flight” was the theme for entries.

The structure’s cedar wood rope bridge is situated in the park’s serene Japanese garden area. The bridge’s ends trail into the water. Although Grossetete later stated that he was certain the bridge could support the weight of at least one person, visitors are not allowed to utilize it—they are not even allowed to reach it.
