6. Energy from Vacuum

Found Year: 1973
Edward Tryon found it.
Location: Everywhere in the Universe
Zero-point energy, the lowest energy state in the realm of quantum physics, is the concept of vacuum energy. The oscillations that quantum fields undergo in the “absolute zero” vacuum of space are the basis of the decades-old theory of vacuum energy.

Instead of being empty space, this vacuum energy is a frothing stew of virtual subatomic particles that are always being made and destroyed. Space is torn apart by the antigravitational force produced by these particles. There is no known source of vacuum energy, thus scientists are attempting to determine why the cosmos is expanding so quickly.
