4. Cannibalism in the Galaxy

Found Year: 2003
Who Found It: UCLA, UC Santa Cruz
Where: The Andromeda Galaxy
Galaxies can eat one another and change over time, just like life on Earth can. One of the Milky Way’s satellites is presently being consumed by Andromeda, the neighbouring galaxy. The cosmic leftovers of previous dinners make up more than a dozen star clusters in Andromeda. These star clusters resemble chicken bones in essence.

Andromeda will devour us all eventually. Larger than the Milky Way, this destructive galaxy is expected to eventually target us, according to scientists. Fear not—the union is scheduled to take place in five billion years. Even yet, the idea is a little unsettling.
