During an early 1962 tour to India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Iran, Queen Elizabeth II received the shawl in Nepal. “Self-coloured Buddhist symbols in bands” adorn the silk shawl, per The Royal Trust Collection. The Queen did not receive the scarf at a private meeting with the Dalai Lama.
