Ibusuki Beach in southern Japan may not look like a typical sunbathing spot at first glance, yet it is. The sand is really granite that was formed by a neighboring volcano rather than actual sand. Because of the volcanic activity, the material is heated underneath, creating the ideal environment for a steaming sand bath.
