Located at: Not sure Value range: $0.99 to $5 The infectious nature of polio was identified in the early 1900s, and the first significant outbreak occurred in Vermont in the late 1700s. Although there has been polio since ancient times, the first vaccine for the disease wasn’t developed until 1955. The terrible illness has not affected the United States since 1979.

The card was signed by a physician by the name of “E.H. Schauer” and dates back to the 1950s. We’re relieved that Joan, whoever she was, appears to have survived the paralysis illness.
