15. The Kingdom of Gulliver
Where: Japan
1997 is the year.
Price: $350 million
Sadly, Gulliver’s Kingdom, a theme park based on the book Gulliver’s Travels, could not survive and had to close after just four years of operation. Given that it was the site of the sarin gas attacks on one side and Japan’s suicide forest on the other, some may say that the park was already surrounded by a bad vibe.

The park was closed because of low visitor numbers and high expenses—which, considering the cost of development, should come as no surprise. Over time, the park has become completely dismantled, and one particularly unsettling sight is the massive, crumbling Gulliver construction.
