During the pre-British occupation period, Shekhwat Rajputs ruled over the Shekhwati region in Rajasthan, India. Thanks to the many havelis (mansions) that had fresco artwork all over them, this area is regarded as the largest outdoor art gallery in the world. The artwork that was later displayed in these houses served as a testament to the owners’ grandeur and riches.

The people who lived there were mostly traders, and when trade moved elsewhere, so did the occupants. As a result, some of the most exquisite palaces on earth were permanently abandoned and remain so to this day. Even with such changes, a lot of people visit the area to see the breathtaking splendor these houses have to offer.
