The Hamilton Palace’s construction has been ongoing since 1985 and is still not finished. Its size exceeded that of Buckingham Palace, making it the most expensive private residence in England at one point. The palace has not been finished for both major and minor reasons. The owner’s 2002 manslaughter conviction was the major reason, while disagreements with neighbors were the minor one. Following that incident, work on the project was halted, and it became known as the “ghost house of Sussex.”
