SoftBank first unveiled Pepper to the public in 2014. “Pepper is the world’s first social humanoid robot able to recognize faces and basic human emotions,” the website claims.

The fact that so many businesses choose to spend a lot of money on Pepper technology for their entry lobbies makes it an intriguing piece of equipment. The robot had a stint at the Smithsonian in London in addition to being a host at HSBC in New York.
