During their wedding, Prince William and his wife, Kate, were showered with gifts. One such present was a tandem bicycle from London Mayor Boris Johnson at the time. The tandem, which was particularly commissioned and modelled after London’s bike-sharing scheme, was given to William and Kate by Johnson.

The bikes, sometimes known as ‘Boris bikes’, are a component of an initiative to increase public transport and automobile emissions in London while also encouraging more walking and bicycling. Johnson expressed his anticipation of seeing William and Kate travel in style on “tandem wheels.” He said that he hoped the couple’s new beginning in Anglesey would be aided by his gift.
