Since the 1830s, Wellington Barracks have existed. This central London military barracks has been in operation for centuries. During one of her sporadic visits to this establishment, the Queen received a pretty peculiar but significant gift.

A Mud Box, Shutterstock, or Cherezoff
A silver box from Wellington Barracks was given to her. Mud, something far less precious than silver, was inside the box. The dirt originated on the front lines of World War II. A box of mud might not seem like a gift fit for a royal, but it was for the Queen, who was honoured to receive such an important artefact.
