Gifted by: Emmanuel Macron
Est. Value: $80*

Macron gifted the Duke and Duchess two engraved James Bond pens and a similarly-engraved cigarette lighter. This present has a history; in 1947, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were given a Dupont travel case by Vincent Auriol, the French president at the time. Over the decades, the tradition has been faithfully maintained.
82. Lace Tray Cover
Gifted to: Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh
Gifted by: Mahatma Gandhi
Est. Value: $50-$100*
When Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary, they put a host of their wedding gifts on display to the public. One of these gifts was a lovely lace tray cover, which was woven by none other than Mahatma Gandhi himself.

Apparently, when Queen Elizabeth II received the lace tray cover, her mother, Queen Mary, mistakenly thought it was Gandhi’s loincloth! Luckily, that assumption turned out to be false. The tray cover was just that, and it was all the more special because the famous figurehead had woven it himself. The wedding took place on November 20, 1947, right after India became independent from Britain.
83. A Rug
Gifted to: Princess Anne
Gifted by: British Cabinet

Princess Anne, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, married Captain Mark Phillips in the 1970s. The British Cabinet members wanted to gift the royal something special, so they pitched in and bought Anne and her husband a rug. Princess Anne wrote each of the Cabinet members a personal note, conveying her thanks “most warmly” for the “really lovely rug.” Apparently, when U.S. President Nixon and his government sent Princess Anne and Mark Phillips four solid-gold candlesticks and a crystal bowl, one Cabinet member remarked that they should have come up with a better gift, as the Americans made the rug look “pretty crummy.”
84. A Poem
Gifted to: Duke and Duchess of Cornwall
Gifted by: Andrew Motion
Est. Value: N/A
Sir Andrew Motion is a former Poet Laureate, who was in office from 1999 until 2009. The poet and novelist was the founder of the Poetry Archive, which is a digital resource of poets’ audio recordings of their work. Sir Motion is also quite a gift-giver.

Tradition requires the English Poet Laureate to write a personal poem for each Royal wedding. For King Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Bowles’ wedding in 2005, Motion wrote “Spring Wedding.” However, his inclusion of the lines “the heart which slips” and “winter-wreckage” raised some eyebrows, no doubt from the Queen herself.
85. A Dance
Gifted to: King Charles
Gifted by: Princess Diana
Est. Value: Priceless
Princess Diana was an icon, and one of her most iconic moments was her 1985 duet with Wayne Sleep at the Royal Opera House. She gifted her husband, King Charles, a dance for the “Friends of Covent Garden,” a charity event that took place right before Christmas that year.

The dance wasn’t to some old dirge from the 1800s. It was to “Uptown Girl,” a Billy Joel song that made the audience “gasp” when Diana appeared, according to Wayne Sleep, her partner. For his part, King Charles showcased his singing talents with his own rendition of the ice cream jingle, “Just One Cornetto.”
86. An Opera
Gifted to: Anne of Hanover
Gifted by: Prince William of Orange
Est. Value: N/A
We’ve seen a poem and a dance being gifted to the Royal Family, but what about an entire opera? In 1974, Prince William of Orange, who would later become William IV, wed Anne of Hanover. He asked George Frederic Handel, a famous composer, to help him mark the occasion.

Handel composed a three-part Italian serenata called Parnasso in festa. Handel also wrote Prince William a wedding anthem for Anne of Hanover. The composer had his own connection to Anne—he’d been her music teacher, and though he reportedly hated being a music teacher, Anne was the only student he liked. He described her as a “flower of princesses.”
87. Lemon Verbena Tea
Gifted to: Queen Elizabeth II
Gifted by: Michelle Obama
Est. Value: $20*
According to biographer Tom Quinn, Queen Elizabeth II loves Michelle Obama. Ever since meeting the former First Lady for the first time in 2009, the British monarch had reportedly had a “soft spot” for Americans. The former First Lady gifted the Queen a lovely present in 2015, cementing their years-long friendship.

Michelle gifted Queen Elizabeth II with lemon verbena tea, a jar of honey butter that was homemade from the White House garden, two small jars of honey, a candle, and a silver honeycomb vase from Tiffany & Co. Lemon verbena tea is great as a digestive aid, and it can also relieve stress and nervousness, two things a world leader is likely to experience.

Apparently, the RAAF had RAAF dog jackets in the works for the Queen’s new Corgis. They promised to send her them as soon as they were ready. The Queen responded that she “look[ed] forward” to receiving the jackets, and she said she thought the gesture was “very kind.”

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines gave the royal new swimming trunks and a new tie. He also received eight wooden eggs from New Zealand. The Ford become a common sight in the media, as Diana would drive it to the polo fields to watch her husband-to-be play. After Prince William was born, however, she sold the Ford. Later, in June of 2021, the silver Ford would make a reappearance, selling for over $70,000 at auction.
