In 2018, while tearing down the abandoned Cressoni Theatre in Como, Italy, labourers made a glittering, golden treasure. A soapstone amphora with 300 coins, all from the Roman Imperial Era of 474 A.D., was found beneath the theatre.

Rolls of coins were piled on top of one another. Coin expert Maria Facchinetti claims that whomever buried the jar there did it in a way that made it easy to recover in the event of danger. Since these coins weren’t discovered for centuries, the treasure-hoarder’s life must have been simple.
