Recovered from The Ship of Gold, almost a thousand artifacts from the Gold Rush era are now appropriately on display in Reno, Nevada. Between the 1980s and 2014, these astounding discoveries were amassed, and the riches of the Ship of Gold included enigmatic daguerreotypes, a pair of authentic Levi Jeans, and a significant amount of gold.

Even though the Ship of Gold sank in 1857, its interesting history has continued; the ship’s story did not finish with its sinking. An explorer by the name of Tommy Thompson initially discovered the shipwreck in 1988. Since then, the U.S. federal government has kept Thompson in prison for not disclosing the whereabouts of five hundred gold coins he removed from the wreck.
