The Staffordshire Hoard was found in a field in Staffordshire, England, by an amateur treasure hunter. With 4,600 priceless objects and metal pieces, including 3 pounds of silver, 11 pounds of gold, and thousands of pieces of garnet cloisonne bracelets, necklaces, rings, and other jewelry, the trove is the biggest collection of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever discovered.

The relics are crafted by master artisans and have a martial aesthetic. The trove was believed to have belonged to a high-ranking military lord and was buried between 650 and 675 A.D. The hoard was found in Mercia, a significant Anglo-Saxon realm, at the time of its deposition.
