Dr. Seaman was granted permission to use the site by US Steel, the largest company in Gary at the time. Up until his expulsion from the church in the late 1920s due to his promotion of cultural variety, Dr. Seaman was the pastor of the church. Following Dr. Seaman’s expulsion, the church’s downfall persisted. 1975 saw its official closure.
