Although work on the California High-Speed Rail may have started in 2015, Assembly Bill 3034’s approval by the state assembly and Governor Schwarzenegger’s signature in 2008 marked the beginning of the project’s seven-year journey. The California High-Speed Rail Authority awarded the contract to the engineering firm WSP USA, and the railway’s plans got under way.

Construction problems have caused a delay in the Initial Operating Segment’s scheduled opening, which was supposed to transport passengers around the bay area. Phase 1 of the High-Speed Rail is expected to be finished by the early to mid-2030s and will take travelers two hours and forty minutes to travel the three hundred and eighty miles from Union Station in Los Angeles to San Francisco.
